The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located in Carson City within the Road Design Division. The Incumbent will develop contract plans to construct roadway projects throughout the State. Duties include producing computer aided drafting drawings (CADD) that represent roadway cross sections, freeway interchanges, roundabouts, sidewalk, traffic control, striping, and special construction details. Staff 2 Engineers establish roadway geometrics using design standards set by AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD and NDOT policy. Staff Engineers will work within a team to complete a contract plan set; the incumbent will be assigned tasks such as calculating quantities, developing estimates, and producing CADD drawings. Staff Engineers will coordinate and communicate with other NDOT Divisions to incorporate other engineering disciplines within the contract plans. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
