The Position
Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.

A custodian worker performs tasks that keep the building and the surrounding grounds in good shape to ensure everything runs smoothly, from dusting to ensuring paper supplies are stocked in restrooms. Custodial workers are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of buildings and facilities. They work under the supervision of a custodial supervisor and follow established procedures and safety guidelines. Priorities for a custodial workers include, but are not limited to the following; clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities, vacuum, sweep, and mop floors, dust and wipe down surfaces, empty trash and recycling bins, refill restroom and cleaning supplies, report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisor, perform routine cleaning tasks on a regular schedule, and assists with setting up for events or special projects. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
