The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health , Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health (SNAMHS) is recruiting for a Mental Health Technician I for Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital.
This position will provide direct consumer care, such as provide psychosocial rehabilitation, teach basic skills, take vital signs, introduce and support community activities to consumers, will observe and document findings in the electronic record system, facilitate individual or group basic skills training sessions under direct supervision of mental health professionals, and transport clients to and from appointments using state vehicle. As a condition for continued employment Mental Health Technicians are required to comply with NRS 433.279 and become a Certified Mental Health Technician within 2 years from date of hire through completion of required coursework. This certification is a progression requirement (5 credits from Tech I to Tech II and 5 credits from Tech II to Tech III), but it is also the primary clinical training program for technicians. Once certified, the technician must maintain certification by completing 20 hours of continuing education units every two years following the date on which initial certification was issued.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of general work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and be free of active tuberculosis.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant at the cost of the applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
