Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The Professional Engineer Underfill position is located in the Geotechnical Section of the Materials Division at the Carson City Headquarters Office. The Professional Engineer Underfill position plans, coordinates and oversees all aspects of geotechnical projects, oversees drilling and construction material source exploration, develops engineering policies and procedures, and programs and manages consultant agreements. The incumbent supervises geotechnical engineers and the Materials Division Field Crew who is in charge of geotechnical drilling, and construction materials source exploration and sampling.
