The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 2 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Long Term Services and Supports Unit in Reno, NV.
This position is within the Long Term Services and Supports Unit of the DHCFP, located at the Medicaid office in Reno. The incumbent will work directly with the Home and Community Based Services Waiver Programs and will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and evaluating Federal regulations and State statutes for impact on the Waiver programs. Prepares and reviews necessary reports for submission to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Reviews, interprets, updates and maintains programs' policies accordingly. Develops, updates and maintains program documents including, but not limited to, state plans, procedures/memos and forms. Participates in Medicaid's Fair Hearings process; developing and presenting program related trainings and/or outreach to providers, DHCFP staff and other entities; as well as assisting in the ongoing maintenance of Nevada's Electronic Visit Verification system related to waiver programs. The incumbent will also work directly with Nevada Medicaid's fiscal agent, providers, other state agencies, and stakeholders. Overnight or out of state travel may be required with this position.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
