Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Materials Division m Carson City. This position is responsible for performing geotechnical analyses and providing design/construction recommendations for foundations .supporting all types of transportation facilities, including bridges, buildings, and retaining walls; conducting field explorations and inspections; conducting seismic surveys; performing stability analyses for rock and soil cut slopes, rock falls, and landslides; providing design/construction recommendations for revetments, subsurface trench drains, and roadway subgrade support; performing stability and settlement analyses for embankments. This position prepares geotechnical reports and design memoranda; reviews construction project plans, specifications, and cost estimates; manages outside consultants' geotechnical work; attends meetings; conducts construction inspections; provides technical assistance during construction projects; and provides support in disputing contractors' claims. Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
