Correctional Sergeants and Lieutenants have charge of an assigned watch or major area in a State correctional institution/facility and supervise subordinate officers to ensure the safe custody,discipline and welfare of inmates.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This recruitment will fill all qualified Lieutenant promotions for every institution in the Nevada Department of Corrections for the next 12 months. Qualifying for this recruitment will be based on application evaluation. No questions to answer and no ranking. Unranked list will be used to fill vacancies. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

One year of work experience as a Correctional Sergeant in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Applicants must meet minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. |
|
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. |
|
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
