Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This recruitment is for a Public Service Intern 1 (PSI) position with the Early Childhood Day Treatment Program in Reno, Nevada. The Early Childhood Mental Health Day Treatment Program provides relationship-focused, trauma-informed day treatment services to children ages three to six years old.
The program provides extensive and ongoing training in evidence-based social and emotional learning/development models, trauma-informed care, emotional regulation skills, and infant and early childhood mental health. Classroom ratios will be maintained at 1 adult to 2 children. Daily and weekly opportunities for reflective supervision and debriefing will be provided. The PSI assists in developing and maintaining the program to include: providing guidance and assistance as needed in early childhood day treatment classrooms; providing active supervision and guidance during daily transportation of children to and from the program; implementing to fidelity of social/emotional learning/development, trauma-informed care, and relationship-focused models of treatment within a cooperative and collaborative classroom/treatment team; active engagement in reflective supervision and practice throughout program. The is a part-time position with variable shifts available to cover morning and afternoon day treatment class schedules and to maintain consistency for children in the program.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university. |

Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
|

Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
|
|
As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. |

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
