Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.
The Division of Emergency Management (DEM) is recruiting for a Training Officer II position in Carson City, NV. This position serves as the Training Officer and is responsible for developing multi-year training strategies; scheduling, coordinating, and conducting Emergency Management based training to provide support for other state agencies, Tribal Nations, and other local jurisdictions; developing training budgets; preparing grant applications for the statewide training program; and providing programmatic and financial reports on the program. The successful candidate must obtain ICS Instructor certification (L0449 ICS Train-the-Trainer) within 2 years of hire.
Activation of the Nevada Emergency Operations Center (NVOC) may occur in the event of a major emergency. All positions in the agency perform a role to support the NVOC operations. This may serve to disrupt/alter/revise or totally change all previously established work performance standards, requiring 100% of time until the emergency is over. During activation, the NVOC may be in operation 24/7 for an extended period of time to include holidays and weekends.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or a related field and three years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including conducting training needs assessments; planning and developing curriculum; and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year experience as a Training Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

The ability to travel at least 50% of the time is required. |

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. |

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
