The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
Statewide.
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 3 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy Behavioral Health unit and may be filled in Carson City or Reno NV.
The incumbent will be responsible for development of policy, review of claims and data reports to analyze the utilization of behavioral health services within the Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers, Applied Behavior Analysis and other behavioral health service model programs. Analysis of utilization includes but is not limited to: review of frequency of services, data quality measures for quality incentive measures, number of services that are accessed by recipients, and regional analysis of service availability. Development of policy includes but is not limited to: research of state and federal regulations, State Plan Amendments and Medicaid Services Manual updates. Public presentations and representation of the division at various events. The behavioral health service model includes the entire continuum of care, inpatient psychiatric care, residential treatment facilities, mental health rehabilitative services (treatment homes and non-residential services), and outpatient therapeutic interventions. This position is responsible for supervising staff. Travel is less than 25% of the job requirement.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
