The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Buyers are responsible for the procurement of major goods, financing and services required by State agencies and political subdivisions.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located in the Equipment Division in Sparks, NV. Incumbents perform specialized and complex purchasing duties and are involved in the procurement of large equipment, materials, supplies and specialized services. The Buyer III is the liaison between State purchasing and NDOT and must know State of Nevada purchasing system/procedures. They establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with departmental representatives and vendors; meet schedules and deadlines; read requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and delivery reports.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or related field and two years of professional experience in buying, specification writing or related professional purchasing responsibilities; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of purchasing experience, two years of which was at the professional level as described above; OR one year of experience as a Buyer II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
