The Position
Employee Development Managers and Training Officers analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, manage and coordinate training and development for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function and supervise and/or conduct sessions for vocation and/or skills training in specific occupational areas and general management development.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Training Officer 1 for the Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC), a 64-bed staff secure facility for male and female youth age 14 to 18 located in Elko, NV. The incumbent will manage and coordinate delivery of trainings for NYTC staff. This includes supervising and conducting training sessions; prepare course descriptions, develop curriculum, and deliver trainings; serve as liaison to the Division of Human Resources on training needs and requirements; conduct training needs assessments, analyze results and make recommendations; design and implement employee development programs; participate and conduct safety and other investigations as needed; ensure facility training compliance with relevant federal and state regulations, and DCFS and NYTC training policies. This is a full-time position with an anticipated work schedule of 8 am-4 pm, Monday-Friday that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or related field and two years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including experience planning and developing curriculum and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
