The Position
Facility Supervisors/Managers plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, custodial work, security functions, and fleet maintenance and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Facility Supervisor 1 (FS1) located in Reno, Nevada. The FS1 is responsible for maintenance and maintenance contract oversight for 2 locations in the Reno/Sparks area including 5 state owned buildings. This position performs a variety of repairs and routine maintenance as requested or as needed to maintain buildings' systems. The FS1 will develop scopes of work and solicitations for and oversee maintenance related contracts such as fire systems, pest control, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, snow removal, windows, HVAC, locksmith, generator and special projects. Incumbents need to be able to triage and determine whether an issue can be fixed directly or involve a contractor. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience in building construction or building maintenance; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
