The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Aging and Disability Services Division is currently recruiting for a full-time IT Technician 4 position statewide. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program: Information Technology (IT).
Incumbents monitor help desk user support calls, email requests and ensure all calls and requests are recorded and tracked using the help desk application. Incumbents identify and decide how to resolve problems themselves or through appropriate referral; assist with logon/logoff procedures for mainframes, servers, and the network; determine the nature of outages and contact the appropriate person or company. Incumbents will be responsible for assisting users with network, application, system, instructing users on PC operation and faults; assisting IT staff with installations or resolutions as required; and identifying Internet protocol (IP) addresses for failed network connectivity issues. Position requires lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and working four 10-hour shifts. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and positive work settings. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
