APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $70,282.08 to  $104,713.20  PAY GRADE: 37
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Building Construction Inspectors perform a variety of building construction inspections and contract administration work requiring a broad knowledge of construction principles and practices of all phases of construction including plumbing, heating, electrical, structural design, air conditioning and landscaping.
Under limited supervision at the journey level, incumbents perform the full range of duties in the series concept involving all phases of building construction inspection including plumbing, heating and electrical systems, structural design, air conditioning systems and landscaping to ensure compliance with construction contract and plan specifications. Inspectors at this level are assigned to major, multi-million-dollar construction projects of buildings, facilities, and structures intended for the use of State personnel, the general public and others. Examples of such structures include State correctional facilities, university dormitories and classrooms, and National Guard facilities.
This position is located within the Architecture Section of the Maintenance and Asset Management Division in Carson City. The purpose of the Architecture Section is to support the mission of NDOT by assessing, planning for and constructing capital assets required by the activities of NDOT. The Architecture Section is responsible to budget, plan, and construct capital assets that are safe, functional, desirable and enduring. Architecture Section personnel act as the owner's representative for NDOT design and construction projects and ensure that safety is always a primary consideration in department operations and building infrastructure. Applicant must possess no less than ICC certification as a Commercial Building Inspector at the time of appointment and maintain this certification as a condition of continued employment, with the ability to obtain other inspection certifications. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of building construction inspection experience which included plumbing, electrical, building mechanical, and accessibility areas and required the review and interpretation of building codes, architectural drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with contract documents; OR one year of experience as a Building Construction Inspector II in Nevada State; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Applicant must possess ICC certification as a Commercial Building Inspector at the time of appointment and maintain this certification as a condition of continued employment, with the ability to obtain other inspection certifications.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
The following additional questions are part of this Recruitment
1) Applicants must possess no less than ICC certification as a Commercial Building Inspector at the time of appointment and maintain this certification as a condition of continued employment, with the ability to obtain other inspection certifications. 2) This position requires statewide travel on both State owned and commercial aircraft. Can you meet this requirement?
