The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

GIS Analysts are responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and administering all aspects of a department's and/or division's enterprise geographic information system.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The incumbent is responsible for designing, implementing, and administering the Department of Wildlife's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support wildlife conservation and habitat management efforts. Duties include collecting, compiling, and organizing geospatial data from various sources (e.g., imagery, GPS data, and field data collection applications such as ArcGIS Field Maps); using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Experience Builder, or ArcGIS Dashboard; developing and maintaining GIS databases; processing and analyzing wildlife resource and habitat data; building and maintaining mobile and web-based tools for field data entry and viewing; building and maintaining web-based dashboards and summary tools for management use. The incumbent should possess a thorough knowledge of current GIS software and tools and should be highly proficient in current skills, techniques, and methodologies commonly used in GIS, including, but not limited to, data management, database development, cartography, spatial analysis, task automation, and scripting. Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, servers, web development, and native application development is preferred but not required.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geographic information systems, geography, cartography, computer information systems, or a closely related field and two years of professional GIS experience which included GIS/GPS data collection, analysis and validation; GIS software application development; and/or cartographic design; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in geographic information systems, geography, cartography, computer information systems, or a closely related field and three years of professional GIS experience as described above; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional GIS experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a GIS Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

Certification as a Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) from the GIS Certification Institute is equivalent to one year of work experience. |

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
