The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Accountant Technicians perform technical accounts maintenance work for agencies with complex accounting functions or systems. Factors that contribute to complexity include, but are not limited to, federal grant reporting, external bank accounts, cost allocation plans, budget accounts, bank guidelines other than those contained in the State Administrative Manual, enterprise accounting, complex fund accounting, and external reporting requirements.
This announcement will be used to fill an Accountant Technician 2 position with the DMV, within our Administrative Services Division, located in our Reno office.
This position will be responsible for yearly, quarterly, monthly and semimonthly reconciliation and distribution of funds; prepare and process payments and journal vouchers; account code adjustments and process exception reports; provide funds handling training to all Divisions as requested; manages users for desktop deposit; maintains Certificates of Deposit and Letters of Credit inventory and spreadsheets; researches deposit exceptions from the Treasurer's Office and resolve as indicated. The incumbent will handle large amounts of cash on a daily basis. This position will also supervise and manage an office and staffing operations to include establishing priorities and/or reassigning work in the Reno revenue office.
The incumbent will provide back-up coverage as needed in revenue offices within a 50-mile radius, this could require working 10-hour shifts and is subject to overtime due to late customers. Incumbent will be required to utilize their personal vehicle (with fuel reimbursement) to commute to Carson City weekly, semimonthly, monthly or quarterly for training/meetings or coverage depending upon the needs of the agency.
Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees. Graduation from high school supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting. Additionally required is three years of progressively responsible financial records maintenance experience which includes duties such as designing, implementing and interpreting narrative and data reports; applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information; preparing entries to accounts; analyzing assets and liabilities and preparing balance sheets; auditing contracts, vouchers and other documents and preparing summary transaction reports; implementing accounting control procedures; and overseeing the work of accounting clerical staff; OR one year of experience as an Accountant Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting. |
