The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Under general administrative direction, the State Payroll Manager has statewide responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the activities and staff of the Payroll and Employee Records section of the Division of Human Resource Management.
The Department of Administration is recruiting to fill the State Payroll Manager position within the Central Payroll Unit. The position will be located in either Carson City or Las Vegas depending on the chosen candidate. The incumbent has statewide responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, and managing activities for the Payroll and Records sections within the Division. The incumbent ensures the HRIS system remains compliant with Federal, State, payroll, and tax laws for the State of Nevada, anticipates changes, and administers payroll for all state employees. The incumbent has oversight on training requirements, assists in biennial budget preparation, reviews and researches bills, and makes recommendations for improvement and compliance. Additionally, this position supervises staff as assigned.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, information technology, public administration, or a field related and five years of experience in financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions including financial system integrations and payroll management, preferably in a public sector/government setting, two of which were at supervisory and/or manager level; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and seven years of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
Current certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
