The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This recruitment is for an Assistant Administrator, State Library position, located in Carson City, Nevada within the division of The Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR). Under the direction of the administrator, the Assistant Administrator manages the Technical Services, Access Services, Library Planning & Development, Talking Book Services, and Nevada Library Cooperative programs.
The incumbent directs and develops State Library programs and associated policies and procedures to achieve the library's mission to meet the needs of State agencies, local government, and the general public. To accomplish this goal, the Assistant Administrator works with librarians and information management professionals throughout the State to integrate NSLAPR services and plans with statewide plans; develops the goals and objectives of the Library in accordance with statutory requirements, the agency master plan, and the statewide master plan; plans and organizes staffing and other resources to meet the needs of new or changed programs and services; oversees the financial management of federal and State grants to libraries and information repositories; and oversees and participates in the development of grant applications and funding proposals.
Additionally, the Assistant Administrator manages the section's eighteen program staff, budget, and public relations activities. As an essential part of the NSLAPR leadership team, the Assistant Administrator also develops, coordinates, and executes division-wide goals and represents the agency and acts on behalf of the Administrator as requested. The NSLAPR is a division within the Department of Administration.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree in a program accredited by the American Library Association or a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in history, public administration or closely related field and five years of increasingly responsible professional library and/or archives management experience which included developing library and/or archival program policies; developing and implementing work plans, developing and managing public and private grants; developing and monitoring a budget, and managing, evaluating and revising programs. At least two years of experience must have included managerial and administrative responsibility for program and policy development, supervising professional staff and overseeing a comprehensive library and/or archives management program; OR certification as a Certified Archivist and five years of experience as described above.

This position will require up to 50% travel.
