Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant III in Las Vegas. The Accounting Assistant III will assist in the operation of the payroll department by reviewing timesheets in Nevada Employee Action and Timekeeping System (NEATS) for the entire agency for accuracy and proper authorization. They will process timesheets on-line into the IFS Human Resources Advantage System. The Accounting Assistant III will prepare special pay time adjustment sheets for corrections on timesheets including but not limited to: Retro in Pay, Stale Claims, Workers Compensation Buyback Leaves, Catastrophic Leave, Termination Pay Out, Annual Leave Cash Out, Recruitment Bonuses, Longevity Pay, Retention Bonuses, Bilingual Pay, Paid Family Leave, Military Adjustments, and Family Medical Leave. The Accounting Assistant III will prepare several reports by pulling data from HR Data Warehouse, NEATS, Payroll Data Warehouse, and Advantage. The Accounting Assistant III is responsible for frequently monitoring Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams for updates and notifications. The Accounting Assistant III will also conduct periodic audits of employee's timesheets.

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
