The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform duties as continuing trainees. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function. Computer Operations: Under general supervision, incumbents supervise IT Technician Trainees, I's, II's, III's, and IV's. Some incumbents may be required to supervise IT Technician V's and/or VI's. Systems Administration, Network Administration, Database Administration, Applications Analysis and Development, Information Security: Incumbents continue to receive training in the performance of many of the duties described in the series concept. This is a continuing trainee level in the series and progression to the next level in the series may occur upon meeting minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with the recommendation of the appointing authority. These four positions are in the Traffic Operations Division as team members of the Technology Section.
The positions will be field technicians in either Northern Nevada or Southern Nevada and will perform work as technical professionals maintaining the Nevada Shared Public Radio System and is responsible for assisting in the daily operations, maintenance, coordination, and sustainment of the system. In addition to these responsibilities, the technicians are required to possess a working knowledge of public radio principles, procedures, operations, and standards. Responsibilities of these positions also include being part of a team responsible for installation, construction, and maintenance of all radio communications sites across this area of the state. These positions are also Traffic Operations representatives and may be called upon to support the Division for various projects and tasks from time to time and will work closely with external partners at varying levels to ensure communications capabilities are maintained and support the division's efforts with the Transportation System Management & Operations program and initiatives. These responsibilities require training and experience in the areas of digitally trunked radio system with an ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain complicated technical systems at the field technician level. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and one year of IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR one year of experience as an IT Professional Trainee II in Nevada State service; OR three years of relevant technical experience equivalent to an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Some positions require specialized certification that will be identified at the time of recruitment.
    Some positions require statewide travel.
    Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
