Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Under the direction of the Grounds Supervisor 2, the Grounds Maintenance Worker 4 position is responsible for the maintenance of the irrigation system at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, by replacing and repairing irrigation lines, valves, rotors, pop-ups, diaphragms, drip systems, bubblers, adjusting heads, solenoids, and keeping heads clear of debris. Additional duties include mowing burial sections, edging around grave markers and along roadway curbing and mow curbing, trimming trees and shrubs, spraying fertilizers and weed control, and trash cleanup. This position is in Boulder City, Nevada and the work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Two years of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools and techniques; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. |

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
