Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Mental Health Technician 1 underfilling a MHT 3 for the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF), in Reno, Nevada.
The PRFT North provides care, training, and treatment 24 hours/7 day a week for adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances. Youth served by the PRTF program are designated as Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and exhibit significant behavioral challenges including physical and verbal aggression, non-compliance, challenges to authority figures, school problems, peer and social difficulties, and family issues. Mental Health Technicians provide direct care services, basic skills training, psychosocial training by working directly with youths ages 12 through 17 individually, in a group setting, and with families. Incumbents will work with youth in crisis, complete safety checks, run precautions, complete safety protocols, and respond to emergency situations according to policy and procedures. This position requires basic knowledge and understanding of Microsoft products including Word/Excel/Outlook, and an ability to learn and master electronic clinical information systems including the State's AVATAR computerized Client Charting System. The selected candidate will work as part of a team of mental health professionals with an emphasis on collaboration.
This is a full-time position with an anticipated variable work schedule occurring after 5pm and on the weekends. It includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of general work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
CPR certification is required within six months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
First aid certification is required within six months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant at the cost of the applicant.
