The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2023-11, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30th, 2024. Please refer to the link for more information: https://gov.nv.gov/Newsroom/ExecOrders/2023/Executive_Order_2023-011/ Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Nevada Secretary of State's office has an opening for an Administrative Assistant II located in Carson City, Nevada. Carson City is nestled just minutes from the world-famous Lake Tahoe, electrifying Reno, historic Virginia City, and Majestic Sierra Nevada Mountain range. This position will serve as a bridge between the Secretary of State's Office and indigenous and rural communities. The selected candidate will possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and communication to indigenous and rural communities, facilitate communication, understanding, and collaboration. The main purpose is to establish positive relationships, address cultural nuances, and ensure the inclusion of tribal perspectives in decision-making processes. This role requires frequent engagement with the indigenous and rural community, conducting regular meetings to offer outreach efforts. This includes sharing information, addressing concerns, and fostering a collaborative relationship to ensure the community's needs and perspectives are effectively communicated and considered.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination
