Cancer Registry Specialists maintains the statewide Cancer Registry, ensuring the accurate identification, collection, verification, uniform maintenance, and quality of cancer data set according to program procedures and State and national data standards as required by State and federal law; provides technical expertise and training to all health care practitioners, health care facilities and/or contracted cancer data abstractors that are required to report cancer data.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Public & Behavioral Heath: Cancer Registry is recruiting for a Cancer Registrar II in either the Reno or Las Vegas area in NV. This Cancer Registrar Specialist II position with the Nevada Central Cancer Registry (NCCR) in the Office of State Epidemiology (OSE). The overall purpose of the position is to maintain the Nevada Central Cancer Registry functions including ensuring the accurate identification, collection, verification, uniform maintenance, and quality of Nevada cancer data set according to program procedures and State and National data standards as required by State and Federal Law. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical expertise and training to all health care practitioners, health care facilities and/or contracted cancer data abstractors that are required to report cancer data. Incumbent must have current certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) issued by the National Cancer Registrar Association (NCRA) at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment. It is essential to note that this position requires residence in Nevada, this is an in-person position and must be able to commute to either the Las Vegas or Reno Office daily.

Current certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) issued by the National Cancer Registrar's Association (NCRA) and one year of professional experience in a cancer registry program to include reviewing, coding and abstracting cancer data and conducting quality assurance audits and performing cancer registry program training; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
