The Position
Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
Under the direction of the Supervisor of the Office of Educator Development, Licensure & Family Engagement, the Education Programs Professional (EPP) coordinates the work of the traditional/alternative routes to licensure Educator Preparation Program Review Teams. The EPP reviews/approves applications for in-service/continuing education providers of courses for licensure renewal pursuant to Nevada Administrative code 391.080; oversees/coordinates all activities related to oversight of all education scholarships pursuant to Nevada Revised Statute 91A.050, Assembly Bill 400 and AB 515 from the 2023 legislative session; conducts all compliance monitoring/reporting in accordance with federal Title II Higher Education act regulations; and serves as the statewide Educational Testing Service/Praxis Coordinator. The EPP works in cooperation with the educator licensure staff and the Commission on Professional Standards in Education members to draft regulation language and hold Public Workshops/Hearings; plans/facilitates quarterly meetings with program provider administration and other internal/external stakeholders; prepares/delivers presentations to the Nevada Legislature, State Board of Education, Commission on Professional Standards in Education, and other public bodies; maintains current knowledge base of research-based best practices/national trends related to educator preparation/professional development reform initiatives; collaborates with department staff, other state education agency personnel, school based educators, university faculty, higher education students, and other community stakeholders; interprets federal/state laws and regulations to accurately monitor legislative mandates; and ensures that current and accurate information is maintained on the Office of Educator Development, Licensure, and Family Engagement website. The EPP ensures program accountability and analyzes and reports on federal and State required criteria of school performance. The populations served are grades K-12 school and district administrators, teachers, pupils, and their parents/guardians.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Doctorate degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area, which included experience in at least one of the following areas related to the current vacancy: leading and managing a team that supports organizational goals; evaluating a program and/or program participants for compliance purposes or outcomes; developing and implementing a vision for desired outcomes; and/or communicating with diverse stakeholders across various platforms; OR Master's degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and two years of professional experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
