The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Mortgage Lending Examiners conduct examinations in the Mortgage Lending Division of the Department of Business & Industry. Incumbents examine and analyze the general ledger, assets, liabilities, capital, and internal controls of institutions to ensure compliance with all federal and State laws and regulations and safety and soundness for the public good.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Position for the Nevada Department of Business and Industry, Division of Mortgage Lending located at 3300 W. Sahara Ave., Ste. 285, Las Vegas, NV 89102. This position conducts comprehensive reviews, of licensees including mortgage companies, escrow agencies, covered service providers and mortgage servicers. The primary emphasis of the examination is to determine compliance with Chapters 645A, 645B and 645F of the Nevada Revised Statutes, and other applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations. The review encompasses a review and evaluation of the business practices of the company. The review includes a review of a selected sampling of loan files for completeness, accuracy, compliance with applicable laws, and fraudulent practices; monthly activity reports; mortgage call reports submitted to NMLS; licensing information; financial statements; advertisements for compliance with applicable laws and deceptive practices; complaints, office space and signage; policies and procedures for supervision of mortgage agents; adequacy of office management and internal controls; safeguarding of client confidential information; and general books and records.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, or other discipline related to the position and one year of increasingly responsible professional experience conducting audits and reviewing financial records and reports; OR graduation from high school and three years of increasingly responsible professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Mortgage Lending Examiner I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
