Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.
This position is located in our DMV Carson City Office within our Research and Project Management Division, DMV Transformation Effort Unit and will be underfilling an IT Professional 4.
This position will directly support this effort and will assume responsibility for the design, implementation, and operation of a release management system to support all initiatives. The appointee will be trained to the following job duties of collaborating with development, QA, product management, and other stakeholders to develop release plans that align with business goals and timelines. Define and document release scope, objectives, and deliverables. Conduct regular release status meetings to update stakeholders on progress, issues, and risks. Identify potential risks and challenges associated with releases and develop mitigation plans. Work proactively to address and resolve issues that may impact release schedules. Manage version control systems to ensure accurate tracking and documentation of software changes. Coordinate the branching, merging, and tagging of code repositories. Implement and improve automated build and deployment pipelines. Create and maintain release documentation, including release notes, installation guides, and versioning information. Analyze and approve test scripts prior to promoting changes based on vendor-led build cycles after each successful sprint. Provide training requirements for end-users.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
