|
Corrections Counselors within in the Nevada Department of Corrections provide mental health services to offenders in a correctional setting including interviews, behavioral planning and implementation, consultation, psycho-educational classes, research, and training.
Incumbents either: Perform some of the duties described in the series concept in a more limited manner as determined by the Department. Positions may be permanently allocated at this level and there is not progression to the next level in the series; OR receive training in performing the duties described in the series concept. This is the trainee level in the series and incumbents may progress to the next level in the series upon meeting minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with the recommendation of the appointing authority.
This position will provide support services to inmates in a correctional setting including assessments and psycho-educational classes. The mental health professional will provide case management and behavioral/human service to persons with mental illness. The mental health professional will provide crisis intervention and de-escalation of crisis situations with the offenders.
Incumbents at this level provide full clinical and administrative supervision to at least one Licensed Psychologist I, in addition to providing a broad range of psychological services described in the series concept. Licensed Psychologist II positions are also responsible for a psychological services program or unit and may also supervise professional clinical staff and support personnel. Positions at this level typically report to a Medical Director, Clinical Program Manager or Division Administrator and oversee psychological services provided at the agency to which assigned.

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in clinical psychology, psychology, counseling, education, social work, or closely related field. |
