The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Developmental Specialists provide individual and group clinical, developmental and support services for individuals of all ages who have, or who may be at risk for, developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or related conditions, and social, emotional, and/or behavioral disorders.

Under direction, incumbents perform a broad range of duties described in the series concept and may assist in program planning by developing goals and objectives, conducting needs assessments, and collecting and reporting information about the program. This is the journey level in the series. The Aging and Disability Services Division is currently recruiting for a full time Developmental Specialist 3 position in Carson City, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the Rural Regional Center (RRC).

Incumbents oversee case management services of individuals with intellectual disabilities and related conditions, such as, Autism, Seizure Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, etc. who live at home with their families or who are living in a supported living arrangement in the community. Within the Children's Services Program, the incumbent could work as a member of the Youth Intensive Support Services (YISS) Team as the Developmental Specialist serving children with dual diagnosis. They will be required to form a partnership with service providers and mental health agencies. The YISS team incumbent will have knowledge of positive behavioral support; local developmental and mental health services; YISS team members have a smaller caseload size than non YISS Developmental Specialists.
