Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health (SNAMHS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Nurse 4 at Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position serves as a first-line supervisor for the unit, providing work direction, resolving patient care and staffing issues. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of a large number of subordinate nurses; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position will provide supervision to subordinate line staff nurses and have operations and administrative responsibility for planning, organizing, and directing nursing services. This position will actively participate in clinical leadership, investigations of patient, family, or physician complaints, as well as hiring and selecting of new staff. Work responsibilities include daily communications with the Director of Nursing I and/or Director of Nursing II regarding incidents, staffing or personnel issues/concerns, and patient care concerns; initiates and documents internal inquiry when an incident occurs to gather, collect, and safeguard pertinent data and documents; ensures that nursing care is delivered and documented consistent with all regulatory agency requirements; and is responsible for ensuring compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards, as well as established laws, regulations and SNAMHS policies.
This is a full-time position that may include weekend and holiday shifts. Hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 to 3:30pm. Incumbent will be working an innovative variable schedule.

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and five years of professional nursing experience including two years in a supervisory capacity and four years of experience in a facility or institution working with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR two years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
