Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will oversee and/or develop designs and specifications for construction improvement and maintenance projects, including but not limited to dams, domestic and production water wells, boat ramps and docks, residential and seasonal housing facilities, building/office additions and tenant improvements, storage facilities and laydown yards, roadways and parking areas, ADA facilities, culverts and drainage facilities, septic systems, etc. The candidate shall be comfortable performing engineering calculations, developing engineer?s materials and cost estimates, managing engineering design and construction projects, interpreting various building codes, permitting, and providing technical and engineering support to Department staff. It would be beneficial if the candidate had a knowledge of surveying, water rights and CAD software. Position could travel between 3-5 days at a time.

Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) |

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
|

The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
|
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |
|
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
|
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process. |
