The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Public Information Officers manage the public relations and information program for an agency on a statewide basis; write media releases, newsletters, and informational brochures; produce audiovisual presentations and take photographs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This recruitment is to underfill for a Public Information Officer 2 position. The Publications Coordinator (PC) position is responsible for the writing, design and pre-press preparation for the agency's four annual magazines (Nevada Fishing Guide, Big Game Seasons and Applications Regulations, Nevada Big Game Hunting Guide and the Nevada Small Game Hunting Guide) as well as additional educational materials for the public including brochures, posters, signs, presentations, and internal and external newsletters. The PC handles all graphic design requests including infographics, logos and graphic elements for magazines and newsletters. As a public information officer, the position also includes writing press releases, media alerts and feature stories, handling media requests and helping with the Department's social media efforts. The PC is also a member of the Department marketing team and leads the Nevada Free Fishing Day Poster Contest. The Publications Coordinator's duties include serving as a staff photographer for all events including Free Fishing Day, commission meetings, conservation projects and other events as assigned. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications or closely related field and two years of professional experience in public relations or public information including writing media releases and newsletters, preparing speeches and multimedia presentations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
This position may require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
This position requires travel up to 25% of the time.
A valid drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
