The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
We are looking for a passionate and committed IT Professional 2, to underfill an IT Professional 3 position, on our Application Development team located in Carson City, Nevada. At the Department of Taxation, the Application Development team is a diverse and collaborative group that strives to find the balance between individuality and teamwork. We are responsible for the support and maintenance of various applications and processes required for state revenue collection, taxpayer maintenance, and tax code enforcement. The incumbent will become an integral member of our Project MYNT modernization efforts. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently under limited supervision as well as collaborate within a team environment. Candidates should be effective multi-taskers, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, and an enthusiasm to take on new challenges.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
