The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2023-11, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30th, 2024. Please refer to the link for more information: https://gov.nv.gov/Newsroom/ExecOrders/2023/Executive_Order_2023-011/ Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. As the first point of contact for outdoor enthusiasts and boaters, your role as an Administrative Assistant will be critical to the department's mission. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to the public and serving as a liaison between the department and the community. Your duties will include assisting customers in-person with various needs and requests (including, but not limited to hunting/fishing license sales, special license and permit applications, vessel titling/registration and boat inspections, assisting with online customer accounts and big game applications), answering phones, responding to emails, and performing daily sales reconciliations, in addition to other administrative tasks.

Your passion for wildlife conservation and your ability to communicate effectively with the public will be vital to promoting the department's mission and securing funding for conservation efforts. To be successful in this role, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organizational abilities. You should be comfortable working with the public and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This position is permanent/full time (normal office hours Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some occasional overtime that may potentially be required, depending on departmental needs). To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
