Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

Embark on an exciting career as an Accounting Assistant 2 with the Nevada Division of State Parks in the Western Region office located near Fallon, Nevada. Picture yourself preparing a wide array of accounts payable and receivable documents, all while navigating through complex rules, regulations, and procedures, including contractual and grant limitations.
Your role as Accounting Assistant II is no ordinary desk job; it's about varied and exciting clerical accounting duties. You'll be making impactful decisions that influence the immediate work units and the quality of services provided to program clientele. With some supervision, you have the latitude to choose the most effective methods to achieve exceptional results within an established framework. Your responsibilities extend to processing State budget and accounting documents, reconciling internal accounting records, and preparing reports that have a direct impact on the daily activities of your section or bureau. Your expertise will be crucial in preventing errors that could lead to non-compliance, additional staff time, inconvenience to clients, or even loss of funds.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
