The Position
Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is recruiting for a full-time Public Service Intern 1 position in Las Vegas, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program: Nevada Early Intervention Services (NEIS). Internship positions are considered a temporary appointment and do not lead to permanent employment with the State of Nevada. This position will terminate 6-months post-graduation.
Public Service Interns work under the direction of a Developmental Specialist that provides specialized behavioral services and direct services to children under the age of three with disabilities (including but not limited to autism, vision and hearing impairments, genetic syndromes, and prematurity) under the federal regulations of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, a positive working environment and is committed to fostering an environment of both inclusiveness and diversity within our workforce. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.
Special Notes
    Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
    Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
