Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is assigned to the Department of Taxation's Tobacco Enforcement Unit and works closely with the Attorney General's Office and other agencies to comply with the requirements of the Master Settlement Agreement. This position is responsible for the creation, review and update of all reports, forms and required data received and utilized by the Department's tobacco unit and other agencies to ensure accurate and proper reporting is provided to the Department and the Attorney General's Office. Additional responsibilities include: identify inaccuracies and trends; MSA exams, processes, and procedures, including researching other state laws and enforcement; analyze work flow and make recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency; creating and updating procedures and policies; determining eligibility of new license applicants or existing licensees; review, analyze and reconcile all documents and data received from licensees and other state agencies or other states; assist taxpayers with reporting, licensing, and compliance issues; creation and preparation of taxpayer correspondence including hearing packets and providing subject matter expert testimony in administrative hearings.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and one year of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR two years of experience as an Accountant Technician I or Tax Examiner II in Nevada State service; OR one year of experience as an Accountant Technician II or Fiscal/Business Professional Trainee III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
