The Position
Laundry Workers wash, dry, fold or press linens and clothing items in an institutional setting; pick up laundry at assigned locations and designated bin areas; collect and remove soiled clothing and linen; and sort items by type, color, and material.

The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is seeking a Laundry Worker II for the Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC), a 64-bed secure facility for male and female youth aged 14 to 18 located in Elko NV. NYTC's goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking through education, therapeutic treatment and appropriate medical and mental health services. Under general supervision, incumbents perform or supervise the performance of the full range of duties described in the series concept. Incumbents work in a youth correctional facility to Wash, dry, fold and/or press linens and clothing items in an institutional setting; sort items by type, color, and material. Perform visual inspection of all washed/dried items for wear and tear; may mend items or send them out for repair or replacement as needed. Perform routine inspections and clean filters and drain traps as needed to ensure equipment is in proper operating condition; report malfunctions to supervisor and/or maintenance personnel. Maintain routine records of laundry washed and laundry supplies used. Prepare supply orders for clothing and laundry supplies. Maintain required logs of work completed, inventory and supplies used; complete required forms and prepare routine reports as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Two years of experience in the operation of a variety of laundry equipment related to the assignment; OR one year of experience as a Laundry Worker I in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
