The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada Department of Corrections is looking for an energetic, committed, and experienced IT Tech IV who takes pride and ownership in their work. This position works within the Nevada Department of Corrections IT Department. Infrastructure Group. Under the direction of the IT Manager II, this position will be responsible for helping to provide enterprise support to 18 locations. The incumbent's primary responsibility is helping to support and maintain 1500 + workstations and various IT infrastructure. This position requires knowledge and experience that is focused on providing support for Windows 10/11 workstations and various software used by the Department. The ideal candidate will have experience remotely troubleshooting and fixing technical issues. First-rate customer service skills and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical NDOC staff clearly and effectively are also essential to the success of this position. The regular business hours for this position are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Travel and on-call coverage are a requirement. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    This position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within 6 months of employment and recertification every 2 years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Agency.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Statewide travel is required.
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
