The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Traffic Operations Division has three vacant Staff I A.E. (Underfill) positions available, in three different work sections of the division. Applicants for this recruitment may be selected for any of these sections. Please see below for details of each section's job functions for the Staff I A.E. position. The Staff I Associate Engineer (Underfill) in Signs, Striping, and Traffic Control (SSTC) is responsible for developing sign plans, sign summaries, sign estimates, and special provisions. This position is also responsible for providing support, guidance, and reviews of striping and traffic control plans.
The Staff I Associate Engineer (Underfill) in Signals, Lighting, and ITS (SLI) is responsible for development of signals, lighting and ITS plans, specification and estimates and coordinate signal, lighting, and ITS projects with other divisions and outside agencies. This position will also review plans, specification and estimates for compliance with departmental standards, and assist, review, modify and maintain signal, lighting, and ITS standards plans and specifications.
The Staff I Associate Engineer (Underfill) in Operations and Network Analysis (ONA) is responsible for performing the operational analysis, review, and comment on traffic management plans, traffic studies, and representing the department in meetings with federal, state, and local units of government. This includes maintaining data archives for traffic studies, signal warrant studies, speed studies, and other special studies.
Each of these positions will support the division's efforts with the Transportation System Management & Operations (TSMO) program and initiatives. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
