The Position
Marijuana Program Inspectors are responsible for monitoring Statewide, privately owned marijuana facilities including cultivation facilities, facilities for the production of edible marijuana or marijuana-infused products, independent testing laboratories, distributors and marijuana dispensaries to ensure compliance with State laws and regulations and for public health protection.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties as described in the series concept and may provide lead work supervision to lower-level Inspectors.
This is for a Cannabis Laboratory Inspector II position with the CCB. This position performs specialized duties for the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board and the organization under direct supervision of a Cannabis Program Inspector III. The incumbent will conduct inspections of cannabis Independent Testing Laboratory establishments for compliance with the rules and regulations of the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board, validate testing methods, identify violations, conduct investigations as needed, document results, and prepare reports of findings. Examples of areas for inspection include storage of cannabis products, laboratory reports, testing practices, validation methods, analytical instrumentation and equipment. Review facility policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, and facility records, to determine whether product services are being provided in accordance with applicable standards. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in allied health sciences, biology, chemistry, environmental engineering, environmental health, environmental science, geology, physics, sanitary engineering, or closely related field and two years of professional experience performing laboratory analysis and/or conducting inspections and/or investigations; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Cannabis Program Inspector I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    College or university transcripts and/or documentation of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist (R.E.H.S.) are required at the time of application.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a preemployment screening test for controlled substances. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment.
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Persons offered employment in this series must submit to a criminal background investigation.
    Exposure to the odor and/or the handling of cannabis, cannabis infused products, and products used to cultivate cannabis are a component of this position.

The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
