Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
The Nevada Department of Education is seeking an Education Programs Professional in Carson City or Las Vegas, depending on the location of the selected applicant.
This position will: Lead and manage the formal process for the ESSA Tribal Consultation process in Nevada. Work with LEAs who are required to consult with tribes who receive more than $40,000 in Title VI Indian Education Formula grants. Work with LEAs who are not required per PL 114-95 § 8538. 20 U.S.C. 7918 to create similar strategies for relationship building with tribal communities to increase student academic achievement. Develop and implement a comprehensive monitoring framework to ensure that tribal consultation is effectively administered to meet the ESSA requirements and improve outcomes for AI/AN students in Nevada. Ensure that affected local educational agencies consult with appropriate officials from Indian tribes or tribal organizations prior to the affected local educational agency's submission of a required plan or application for a covered program under this Act or for a program under title VI of this Act. Create ESSA Tribal Consultation toolkit with resources focused on tribal consultation and sovereignty. Work with LEAs and Tribes Work with SEAs outside of Nevada, who are implementing Tribal Consultation to create consultation training modules. Create professional trainings to engage the work in each LEA.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Doctorate degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and one year of professional experience in an educational program area, which included experience in at least one of the following areas related to the current vacancy: leading and managing a team that supports organizational goals; evaluating a program and/or program participants for compliance purposes or outcomes; developing and implementing a vision for desired outcomes; and/or communicating with diverse stakeholders across various platforms; OR Master's degree from an accredited university in business, economics, education, English, math, psychology, science, sociology, or related field and two years of professional experience as described above. |
