The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Water Pollution Control within the Technical Services, Compliance, and Enforcement (TCE) Branch located in the Las Vegas office Primary duties include inspecting facilities, conducting effluent sampling, reviewing plan and technical document submissions, and conducting compliance related enforcement of permits with surface water & groundwater discharges, working in waters permits, and temporary discharge permits in conformance with the Federal Clean Water Act and state statutes and regulations (NRS and NAC 445A).
Full compliance evaluations include review of records and documentation as well as performing physical plant inspections in various indoor and outdoor environments. Reports of findings and conclusions are required at the completion of each inspection. This position will also conduct enforcement meetings and issue enforcement actions, conduct sampling of permitted facilities and report spill incidents, and will complete technical plan reviews and compliance inspections on permits located throughout Nevada. This position will also conduct reviews on Civil Improvement Plans and on Tentative and Final subdivision maps. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Notes
    A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
Special Requirements
    Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
