Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor I position to underfill for a Mental Health Counselor II, within the Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) in Reno.
The Mobile Response Team receives, and triages calls from families and the community, responds in teams to children and adolescents in the community presenting with a mental or behavioral health-based crisis. Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, homes, and other community settings. Clinicians are responsible for completing a semi-structured assessment, providing support, immediate interventions, and create plans jointly with the youth and family to ensure the safety of the youth and to maintain them in their homes, schools, and communities when able. Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home-based services to children and adolescents in crisis in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Teams can remain in place for up to 45 days to provide intensive clinical and case management services to these youth and families. This position will be the clinical lead on the mobile response and stabilization teams and possibly provide clinical support as needed with the specialized intensive mobile crisis engagement team.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above. |
