Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is part of the Labor Market Information Unit (LMI) in the Research & Analysis Bureau within the Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation. This will be underfilling the Economist 2 position. LMI conducts research on the labor market looking at national, state, and local area data, and reporting on possible impacts to the state. Areas of research include a broad range of subjects such as local employment and unemployment trends, industry and occupational data, wage statistics, macro-economic indicators, and labor force demographics. Information is used to provide businesses with market trends, help individuals plan their career and education, and inform public policy. Economists use a variety of tools to access, clean, and analyze data which is used to produce reports, create data visualizations, make presentations, forecast trends, support grant applications, and provide technical assistance. LMI maintains the nevadaworkforce.com website and publishes various monthly labor market reports and topical research papers. The unit also produces monthly estimates of employment and unemployment through the Current Employment Statistics and Local Area Unemployment Statistics programs in partnership with the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, labor economics, statistics or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in conducting statistical/economic data collection and analysis involving the application of statistical, mathematical and economic principles. |
