The Position
Painters perform skilled painting work to maintain and repair the surfaces of buildings, structures, fixtures, furniture and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is in Carson City and is part of the facilities maintenance group of the State Public Works Division, Buildings & Grounds Section. This position will maintain the interior and exterior finishes and waterproof all buildings under Buildings & Grounds' administration in Northern Nevada. This includes surface prep and the application of primers, paints, stains, varnishes, and caulking to wall and ceiling surfaces, doors, trim, and flashings. Incumbents will utilize scrappers, brushes, rollers, and sprayers for the application of paint products. Incumbents will work from elevated surfaces using ladders and manlifts. The position is under the direct oversight of the Facility Supervisor 3. This position will participate in the on-call rotation. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized painter apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience; OR one year of experience as a Painter I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
