Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at the Department of Transportation Headquarters building in Carson City. Grounds maintenance staff keep the exterior grounds looking professional and welcoming. They maintain proper drainage around campus gutter systems and general maintenance for shrubs lawns and planters. Incumbents operate hand and power tools, and light mechanized equipment such as power mowers, edger's, and blowers in the upkeep and beatification of the NDOT HQ complex and associated properties. This position provides seasonal snow removal operations keeping walk ways free of snow and ice providing a safe environment for NDOT staff, visiting professionals and the general public.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Six months of experience performing basic grounds maintenance work; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
