The Position
Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The position will be located at the Lovelock Correctional Center. Under general direction, incumbent will support recruitment and selection strategy efforts across Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC), review and advise on classification and compensation issues, federal and state regulations, policies and procedures, provide consultation to all levels of management and employees, serve as a generalist in support of diverse human resources issues, employee relations, grievance resolution, corrective and disciplinary actions. Incumbent will be responsible to ensure vacancies for all assigned classifications are monitored and recruitment process complies with Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS), Nevada Administrative Codes (NAC), and departmental policies and practices; develop recruitment plans sufficient to staff correctional institutions, including the creation and implementation of outreach recruitment strategies; open and manage recruitment through the State's NVAPPS process; evaluate applications for minimum qualifications and completeness; review, research, process and log requests for salary adjustments, accelerated rates of hire, and comparable and provisional appointments. Responsibilities may include supervision of Technician staff and other related division work as required. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field and two years of progressively responsible professional personnel experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
