The Position
The State Records Manager and Records Analysts perform a broad range of professional duties in support of the State Records Center which houses and provides access to agency records. Incumbents perform administrative work in planning, coordinating and directing activities in a records management program that is responsible for the maintenance, use, retention and disposition of government records statewide.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Under the general direction of the Nevada State Records Manager, the incumbent directs activities related to the maintenance, use, retention, and disposition of local government records statewide. Key responsibilities include reviewing records series, establishing and updating records retention schedules, providing records management training to local government agencies, and serving as consultant to local governments for the establishment of efficient records management programs. Collaboration with Records Analyst 2 State Governments is a crucial aspect of this role. The role involves administrative work, planning, and coordinating multiple efforts simultaneously. Responsibilities include to assist in the establishment of efficient records management programs, providing consultancy services to local governments. Educate and work in collaboration with local governmental agencies to support their record-keeping practices and maintain their records retention schedules. Assist in the identification of the records management needs and responsibilities of local government entities. Continually monitor and evaluate retention schedules for conformance with state and federal codes, regulations, and statues. Continually review and standardize the schedule documentation format, including citation updates.
Research and stay current on state and federal legislation, regulations, technology, and best professional practices pertaining to the schedule and maintenance of paper and electronic records. Implement an outreach and training program for records retention and disposition. Collaborate with State Government Records Analyst to provide instruction in person or virtually. Develop policies and procedures for effective local government records management. Create or update policies and procedures manuals or local guidelines. Maintain relevant skills and knowledge through training, workshops, and conferences. Participate in local, regional, and national professional meetings and conferences. Service on professional working groups or steering committees. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in history, business or public administration, information management or closely related field and one year of professional level experience in records retention and management which included the appraisal, disposition, and/or the protection of records; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in history, business or public administration, information management or closely related field and two years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Records Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
